Shared scooters and bikes across Canada

  • Bird and Lime scooters now show up in nine cities (Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Halifax, Hamilton, Mississauga, Vaughan) instead of Ottawa alone.
  • A new "Scooters" section on place cards: the closest vehicles, with operator, battery level and walking distance.
  • Saguenay joins the map with Accès Vélo, its bike-share network.
  • The "Unlock a bike" button now opens the right operator app for Mobi, àVélo, Sobi and Accès Vélo.

    Thirteen more Ontario transit networks
    • Schedules added for Belleville, Cornwall, Lindsay, Milton, Orangeville, Orillia, Sarnia, Sault Ste. Marie, Simcoe County LINX, St. Thomas, Stratford, Temiskaming and Timmins — 104 routes and 3,337 stops.
    • These networks start with scheduled times only: their real-time provider mixes vehicles from several cities, and showing nothing beats showing a bus in the wrong town.
    • Groundwork for Metrolinx real time is in place: vehicles are now sorted between networks trip by trip.

    Information pages rebuilt and translated
    • Methodology, Terms, Legal notice, Cookies and Updates are now full pages, with a table of contents and section navigation, instead of the old narrow drawer.
    • Their content finally describes the app's real coverage — 57 cities, 65 transit networks, 6 provinces — and says plainly where that coverage is uneven.
    • All five pages are now translated into Spanish and Portuguese.
    • The analytics consent setting is now a real switch, with its state shown (accepted, declined or unset).

    Layer display and zone banner
    • Layer zoom thresholds are now consistent: shared mobility (BIXI, Communauto, scooters, parking) appears at the same zoom level, so data no longer looks missing.
    • The zone banner offers "Stay on …": after a reload, you can bring the map back to the zone you picked instead of being forced to switch.
    • On desktop, tapping a map element opens its card even when the Filters panel is open.
    • A scooter card now takes on its category color, with no white band above the header.

    Bike share goes beyond BIXI
    • Mobi (Vancouver), àVélo (Quebec City) and Sobi (Hamilton) join BIXI and Bike Share Toronto: five systems in one layer, around 2,850 stations.
    • E-bike counts are now correct for every system, whatever model names the operator uses.
    • Bottom-left map elements (legends, zone banner, floating buttons) finally stack on their real heights instead of overlapping.
    • The "Smoke" badge moves off the weather button, where it was hiding the temperature.

    Moonrise and moonset
    • The weather panel now shows moonrise and moonset times, below the moon phase.
    • Edge cases are covered: circumpolar moon, days with no rise, and midnight rollover.
    • Times were checked to the minute against official US Naval Observatory ephemerides.

    Schedules even when nothing is live
    • Stop cards now show scheduled times on every network: at 4 a.m., or when a real-time provider drops out, you still know when the next bus is due.
    • Times, trips and calendars loaded for 62 networks — seven of them (RTC, OC Transpo, Brampton, REM, STQ ferries, STS, Citébus) used to open a completely empty stop card.
    • Service frequency is shown per route, not just the next departure time.
    • STL: scheduled times are no longer presented as real time.
    • The zone control moves off the map and into the menu, which also gets its legal pages tidied up.

    Live vehicles redrawn, plus operator apps
    • The real-time vehicle marker has been redrawn: raised body, double outline and a heading tip sitting on the capsule — easier to read over a busy map.
    • At a stop served by several routes, every departure shows its route number.
    • BIXI and Communauto cards now offer an "open the operator app" button, separate from "Take me there".
    • Route traces keep both directions on every network: loop routes no longer show up half-drawn.
    • The app no longer subscribes to real-time feeds for cities you aren't looking at, and server responses are cached for a few minutes: lighter startup and browsing.

    Multi-route stops and complete traces
    • A stop card shows every route serving it, whichever way you opened it — previously, opening it from a connection showed only one.
    • STM traces keep both directions: the 99, a loop route, was only drawn halfway.
    • STM route data is three times lighter: every trace was being sent twice.

    Denser, more readable Filters panel
    • Filters switch to a list: one row per filter, with its full label and a switch on the right — no more chips wrapping on long names.
    • "All · None" replaces the large "Select all" button, and only appears where it's useful.
    • The Public transit section is rendered like every other one, expanded by default.

    • Walking, cycling and driving directions now work in every covered city, not just Montréal.

    • Service status, Terms, Legal notice, Cookies, Methodology, and Debug are aligned with current sources and features: Protomaps/OpenStreetMap, Esri, OpenTripPlanner, Geoapify/Nominatim, Sentry diagnostics, geofencing, and push.
    • Map compass: tapping Around me/Compass or the GPS button can request iOS permission, and the GPS pin cone is more discreet.
    • The blue GPS pin now glides between nearby positions, with a direct snap when the gap is too large.
    • On the active map, GPS position now refreshes roughly every 5 seconds with high accuracy; Settings, Notifications, Where to, and background states stay on a more battery-friendly cadence.
    • Map type: the legacy `Transport` and `Environment` modes were removed; the sheet now keeps only `Map`, `Satellite`, `Hybrid`, and `Dark`.
    • iPhone notifications: Home collection-departure reminders and Parked car suggestions are now reflected in the current public scope.
